Jeremy and Jan: Business owners

Jeremy: We’ve been with Globe for 20-21 years and over those years there are a number of things that they’ve got involved in. Originally it was looking into a mis-sold pension that had happened in a former life. Garry resolved that and actually got us money back. We set up a SIPP and that’s been key to moving everything forward.

Our mortgage, our daughters’ mortgage; our children have just gone onto the property ladder and they’ve helped them with their mortgage.

I think with the SIPP, which is the foundation, it helped us with having our own small business, the advice was, why don’t you go down this route because we can arrange it so that not only do you own the [business] property but you rent it from yourself, which obviously helped on a number of levels, it meant we could get money out of the business, effectively tax-free, to go into our pension which was paying our rent which is a legitimate business cost.

And over the years we’ve moved a couple of times and now we’ve got a property where we’ve got tenants, and this is all because Globe helped to set this up in the first instance which is the cornerstone to moving forward into the future.

Jan: For me, working with Globe has been great because I have confidence that they’re not trying to fob you off with what they feel is right for you. They listen to what we want; I’m a little bit risk-averse and they acknowledge that and whenever they’re suggesting anything they take everything in consideration; they’ve listened to what we’ve said and then advised accordingly.

Jeremy: We really feel, because we’ve known them for so long, they understand where we’re coming from; they know what will benefit us and how it will benefit us, and we trust them to do that. Working with Globe, I always feel extremely reassured that we’re talking to the right people; they’re very knowledgeable and very responsive as well. You feel that they’ve got your back.

We say, the way you run a business, you surround yourself with good people and we were fortunate enough to have met them long enough ago for that to make a difference in how we work. And now we recommend them to many and have done.

Jan: I would recommend Globe every time. In fact, funnily enough, this afternoon, I was chatting to somebody who’s doing some painting in our house and he was saying how he’s bothered about his pension set-up and I said “I know exactly the company you should be going to.” So I often, and have recommended people who have come to Globe following from my recommendation.

Jeremy: I also recommend Globe. Both of our daughters have got mortgages on their first properties through Globe and friends I know, who over a beer you chat and I’ve said “Have a word with Garry, I’ve known him for years. He’ll give you impartial advice; whether you choose to take it or not is your lookout.” But yes, I have done so, and wouldn’t hesitate.
