Elizabeth: Planning for retirement
We'd been quite busy. My husband's an actor. He'd been working pretty much non-stop. I was working as a writer, but I had two children, so it was really juggling our careers. But we really weren't taking much care of our finances. We have a brilliant accountant, but the finances were something that we needed advice on.
We just needed to be a bit more sensible about how we manage our money and how we go forward into the future. I was nervous, but that's why we wanted to go with someone in our community. I think that that's quite important to us. So John and David have been fantastic, partly because they seemed to know when not to be intrusive in terms of managing our lives, but just feel like a steady hand in the background.

We’d been quite busy. My husband’s an actor. He’d been working pretty much non-stop. I was working as a writer, but I had two children, so it was it was really juggling our careers. But we really weren’t taking much care of our finances. We have a brilliant accountant, but the finances were something that we needed advice on.
We did the most simple thing, we looked on the internet. We were sure that we wanted someone local to us, because they were local. We then asked people in our community for recommendations and their name kept coming up as trustworthy and highly recommended.
So we organised a meeting. We met John and David and we hit it off straight away. And we feel in safe hands. It’s been important for us because our careers have slightly changed. I’m working full time now. I’ve written a book called A Liverpool Girl. So that was quite important that financially speaking, this is a commitment that I’ve made to writing more books.
We just needed to be a bit more sensible about how we manage our money and how we go forward into the future. I was nervous, but that’s why we wanted to go with someone in our community. I think that that’s quite important to us.
So John and David have been fantastic, partly because they seemed to know when not to be intrusive in terms of managing our lives, but just feel like a steady hand in the background.
We have felt much more confident about our future. 100 per cent, I would recommend John and David. On first meeting, they didn’t put any pressure on us to go with them, which I think is quite important.
If there’s anyone out there looking for a financial adviser, I would just say go and see them. You won’t feel pressured or though you’re in a competition. It feels very friendly and in a way, I’d say coming here, we expected nothing but came away with everything.
