John Pickles, DipPFS, Certs CII (MP & ER)
After a number of years in corporate life, I thoroughly enjoy meeting clients and helping them sort out any financial problems and/or realise their ambitions.
A looooong time ago, my first job was with a firm of Lloyds brokers in London, who placed the reinsurance of the Boeing insurance policy. The first Boeing 747 jumbo jet to land at Heathrow crashed on a test landing, and one of the engines was written off. I remember taking round a Telex advising the underwriters that the damage fell within the $50,000 excess. I cannot quite imagine how you manage to cause less than $50,000 damage when you write off an engine of a Boeing 747, even in those days.
More recently, I took part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride in aid of Help for Heroes: 327 miles cycling mainly in northern France in just six days along with 299 other cyclists. Because of the incredible generosity of our clients, product providers, friends and family, I was delighted to raise over £7,500 for this great charity.
I haven’t even mentioned supporting rugby, have I?
